Each state has as many electoral votes as it has senators and members of the House of Representatives, for a total of 538. However, the 538 electoral votes do not represent the same number of people. For example, an electoral vote in Wyoming represents only 195,000 people whereas an electoral vote in Florida represents close to 700,000 people. Because of the difference in population per electoral vote, comparatively, an electoral vote in Florida represents 350% of the population of an electoral vote in Wyoming.
